Associate Director / Technical Director – Building Performance & Sustainability

I am currently partnering with a globally recognized, top-tier engineering consultancy to find a senior technical leader for their London office.
This is a chance to join an industry-leading Property and Buildings business and take a central role in delivering complex, high-profile sustainability projects across the UK.
In this role, you won't just be advising—you will be shaping project strategy, leading a multidisciplinary network of specialists, and helping high-profile clients turn their strategic sustainability goals into reality.
Key Responsibilities
- 🏢 Technical Leadership & Strategy
- Provide technical direction on operational energy, embodied carbon, and low-carbon design.
- Lead and assure energy and carbon strategies from early concept through to design delivery.
- Advise on UK legislation, planning policies, and premier sustainability standards (BREEAM, WELL, NABERS, and LEED).
- 🤝 Project Delivery & Client Engagement
- Act as the primary sustainability focal point between client teams, internal design specialists, and external stakeholders.
- Translate complex client ambitions into practical, deliverable strategies.
- Lead major bids, proposals, and frameworks, shaping the technical approach and value proposition.
- Build trusted-advisor relationships and represent the firm in key workshops and design reviews.
- 💡 Team Operations & Mentorship
- Actively mentor and upskill a growing team of consultants.
- Oversee day-to-day resourcing, project financial health, and workload balancing.
