Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer – Main Contractor – Up to £80k + Car Allowance + Package
Are you a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Building Services Engineer looking for a challenging role with a forward-thinking organisation? My client is seeking a dedicated professional to join their team and contribute to building a sustainable tomorrow.
Your Mission:
In this pivotal role, you will provide essential mechanical engineering input across various project stages, from tender to completion. Your responsibilities will include:
- Tender & Cost Planning: Evaluating M&E consultant specifications and drawings, conducting buildability reviews, developing alternative design philosophies, and managing logistics.
- Design Management: Leading and managing design teams, organizing workshops, monitoring M&E design information production, and ensuring compliance with Employer's Requirements.
- Technical Oversight: Raising and managing Technical Queries (TQs) and Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Procurement Support: Inputting on tender lists for specialist M&E sub-contractors, evaluating supply chain returns for compliance and value, and ensuring order completeness.
- Engineering & Coordination: Performing engineering calculations (e.g., fan/pump sizing), raising and agreeing Technical Submissions for plant & equipment, and managing the production and delivery of M&E coordinated installation drawings.
- Quality & Compliance: Checking and signing off coordinated installation drawings for design compliance, engineering best practices, operability, maintainability, CDM (H&S), and commissionability.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Managing CDP Specialists (e.g., Sprinklers, BMS), preparing and monitoring client and design changes, and liaising closely with construction team members, including site inspections.

They are seeking an individual with strong interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills. You must be able to manage your workload effectively, demonstrate good time management, and excel both individually and as part of, or leading, a team.
- Technical Expertise: Good knowledge of Mechanical systems & equipment and design/coordination requirements.
- IT Proficiency: Strong IT skills in Excel & Word, with the ability to learn other software (specific training provided).
- Experience: Ideally an Engineering Degree or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years' experience in the Construction industry within Building Services.
- Leadership: Previous management experience is beneficial.
- Personal Attributes: Enthusiastic, determined, adaptable, and flexible.
