We have a brilliant new opportunity for a seasoned Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a leading building services consultancy in London, outside IR35. This role is ideal for professionals looking to contribute their expertise to complex and high–profile developments.
The ideal candidates will have a strong background in commercial office projects , the ability to take ownership of designs, and a commitment to delivering high–quality work. This fantastic position requires the successful candidate to operate on a hybrid basis, attending the office 3 days per week.
Our client is a consultancy that provides sustainable solutions to meet the planning, engineering design, and project delivery needs of the property, infrastructure, environment, and energy markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and specification of all Electrical Building Services systems – power, earthing, lighting, life safety, telecoms, security, access control, lifts, lightning protection, etc.
- Managing own workload, updating forward plan of workload regularly and working to time allocations.
- Carry out the production of detailed calculations using industry standard software tools including Excel, Amtech, Dialux/Relux, and in–house developed tools.
- Checking the design work of fellow team members and external designers in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Preparing conceptual designs with a view to ensuring safe, practical, and economic solutions in accordance with current standards.
Key Requirements
- Degree qualified, or equivalent qualification, in Building Services Engineering / Electrical Engineering or related subjects.
- Complex project experience required, including stage 3 and 4 office fit-out experience (Ideal).
- Good level of computer literacy in a range of digital tools including Amtech/Prodesign, Dialux/Relux, NBS, and Microsoft packages. Any HV tools will also be beneficial.
- Awareness of the principles of building physics such as passive design solutions and fabric-first approaches.
- First-rate communication skills.
- Knowledge of existing standards and ability to develop requirements for new building services projects.
- Drive and determination.
- Good supervisory qualities and experience.
- Highly motivated with the drive to take on new challenges.
