We are seeking a detail-oriented Purchase Ledger Clerk to join a leading construction and maintenance contractor. This is a vital role within a busy finance team, responsible for the high-volume processing of supplier and subcontractor invoices. You will ensure the ledger is accurate, compliant with industry regulations, and that all payments are executed efficiently.

THE ROLE

You will manage the end-to-end purchase ledger process, ensuring all financial data is processed in line with construction industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Invoice Processing: Processing high volumes of supplier and subcontractor invoices using COINS / ENCORA.
  • CIS Compliance: Ensuring all subcontractor invoices are correctly verified and that the correct CIS deductions are applied.
  • Three-Way Matching: Matching invoices to purchase orders (POs) and delivery notes (GRNs).
  • Statement Reconciliations: Reconciling supplier statements to ensure the ledger is accurate and up to date.
  • Query Management: Liaising with suppliers and internal project managers to resolve pricing or quantity discrepancies.
  • BACS Payments: Assisting with the preparation of weekly and monthly payment runs.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Software Expertise: You must have prior experience using COINS or ENCORA accounting software.
  • Industry Knowledge: Previous experience working within a construction, maintenance, or social housing environment is highly desirable.
  • Financial Accuracy: A strong understanding of CIS, VAT, and high-volume data entry.
  • Communication: A professional telephone manner for dealing with supplier queries and internal stakeholders.
