Are you an experienced Structural Engineer looking to transition into the Main-Contracting world? We are partnering with a leading London-based main contractor that has built an outstanding reputation for delivering high-profile projects across complex cut & carve commercial fit-out projects. Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, they are seeking a talented Structural Design Manager to join their team and play a key role in the delivery of complex cut & carve schemes across Central London. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking contractor where your structural engineering expertise will directly influence project success from concept design through to construction and completion.

The Role

As Structural Design Manager, you will lead and coordinate the structural design process, ensuring innovative engineering solutions are successfully integrated with practical construction methodologies. Working closely with project teams, consultants, architects, engineers, and subcontractors, you will be responsible for driving design excellence while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with programme and budget requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the structural design process from pre-construction through to project completion
  • Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, consultants, and specialist subcontractors
  • Ensure designs are fully compliant with project requirements, building regulations, and industry standards
  • Review and manage design documentation, technical submissions, and approval processes
  • Integrate engineering principles with buildability and construction methodology considerations
  • Support project teams in delivering high-quality, technically complex developments
  • Identify and mitigate design risks throughout the project lifecycle

About You

  • Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng or MEng)
  • Minimum 5 years' structural design experience within the UK construction market
  • Relevant knowledge of temporary works is essential
  • Strong understanding of the full design-to-construction lifecycle
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple design packages simultaneously
  • Proficient with relevant structural design software and project management tools
