We are currently seeking experienced M&E Operatives to join an ongoing infrastructure project in Melksham, Wiltshire. The successful candidates will have proven experience within regulated utility, industrial, or infrastructure environments and must hold valid National Grid Authorisation and Slinger Signaller certification. You will support mechanical and electrical installation activities while ensuring all lifting operations, material handling, and day-to-day site works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with strict health and safety procedures. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a specialist project within a highly regulated industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out mechanical and electrical installation works in accordance with project specifications and site requirements.
- Support day-to-day infrastructure and engineering activities on site.
- Assist with the movement, positioning, and installation of materials, tools, and equipment.
- Perform lifting operations safely in line with Slinger Signaller responsibilities and approved lifting plans.
- Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and other site personnel to ensure work is delivered safely and on schedule.
- Undertake manual handling activities in accordance with company procedures and site regulations.
- Assist with equipment setup, maintenance, and preparation of work areas.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment at all times.
- Comply with all site-specific health and safety procedures, permits, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
- Support the wider project team to achieve programme milestones and delivery targets.
Essential Requirements
- Valid National Grid Authorisation (essential and non-negotiable).
- Slinger Signaller certification.
- Previous experience within mechanical, electrical, utilities, industrial, or infrastructure environments.
- Good understanding of manual handling and safe lifting procedures.
- Strong awareness of health and safety requirements within high-risk working environments.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience on National Grid or major infrastructure projects.
- Experience supporting lifting operations and material coordination on live sites.
- Industrial or construction experience within highly regulated environments.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in physically demanding conditions while maintaining safe working practices.
