Freelance M&E Commissioning Manager West London

We are looking for an experienced Freelance M&E Commissioning Manager to support the delivery and final handover of a major residential project located in West London.

This is a key role for a hands-on professional who can lead commissioning, manage subcontractors, and ensure all mechanical and electrical systems are handed over smoothly to the client.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and facilitate the final handover process for mechanical and electrical systems, including sprinklers.
  • Lead cause-and-effect testing, final witnessing, demonstrations, and client training with subcontractors and third parties.
  • Proactively resolve daily M&E coordination issues, liaising with the right personnel to remove blockers.
  • Review, approve, and track testing and commissioning certificates from contractors.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for M&E subcontractors.
  • Manage the following specialist packages:
    • Electrical finals
    • Access control & CCTV
    • Lift systems
    • Mechanical & plumbing systems
    • Sprinklers
    • External lighting
    • Office shell & core CAT B works
  • Coordinate and lead client consultant inspections, ensuring actions are closed out promptly.
  • Identify and advise on builders works required for design changes.
  • Raise and respond to RFIs and NCRs quickly and effectively.
  • Chair MEP-focused meetings, issue minutes, and maintain action lists.
  • Support the Project Manager in weekly progress reviews, highlighting risks.
  • Use project management software such as Procore (training can be provided).
  • Liaise with block managers and external stakeholders, acting as the go-to person for M&E matters.
  • Support aftercare with M&E-related queries.
  • Assist with handover documentation, including metering strategies, readings, training packs, and record keeping.

About You

  • Proven track record as an M&E Commissioning Manager on complex projects.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems across multiple packages.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills with both contractors and clients.
  • Proficiency in Procore or similar software (training available).
  • Able to hit the ground running.
