Senior Engineer with a main contracting background looking to take the next step in your career?
- We're recruiting for an ambitious Senior Engineer to oversee engineering delivery across
- 2–4 live projects in Central London , with a clear pathway into a
Project Manager / Engineering Manager position by the end of the year.
This is more than a traditional setting‑out role.
You'll play a key part in delivering technically challenging projects while developing into a leadership position, managing a team of
2–5 engineers and taking ownership of the engineering function across multiple schemes.
About the Role
Working across a portfolio of projects within
Zone 1 London , you'll be responsible for leading the engineering function, ensuring works are delivered safely, accurately, and to programme.
Projects typically include
- Heavy structural works.
- Complex cut‑and‑carve refurbishments.
- Multi‑million‑pound city‑centre construction projects.
You'll work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, Design Teams, and Commercial Teams, becoming a key technical lead across your projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all engineering and setting‑out activities across 2–4 live projects.
- Ensure works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Coordinate engineering resources and subcontractors.
- Review drawings and resolve technical and buildability issues.
- Maintain QA documentation and as‑built records.
- Mentor and support Site Engineers and Graduate Engineers.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and design teams.
- Drive engineering standards and best practice across multiple sites.
- Progress into managing a team of
2–5 engineers while supporting overall project delivery.
About You
You’ll ideally have
- Experience working for a main contractor .
- Proven experience as a Senior Engineer on commercial or structural projects.
- Strong setting‑out skills using Leica, Trimble, or equivalent equipment.
- Experience delivering complex structural or refurbishment projects.
- The confidence to work across multiple live schemes.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- The ambition to move into Project Management in the near future.
