An established and well-respected M&E contractor is seeking an experienced Freelance Logistics Manager to support the delivery of a large, high-value manufacturing facility in Somerset. This is a key site-based role, working closely with the project and construction teams to ensure the safe, efficient, and coordinated movement of labour, plant, and materials throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage the site logistics strategy for a large-scale manufacturing project
- Coordinate deliveries, storage, and distribution of M&E materials and plant
- Manage site access, traffic management plans, and delivery booking systems
- Liaise with project management, construction managers, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Oversee lifting operations, cranage, and material handling activities
- Ensure logistics operations comply with H&S regulations, site rules, and project procedures
- Monitor logistics performance and resolve clashes or constraints proactively
- Maintain accurate records, schedules, and logistics documentation
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Logistics Manager on large M&E or construction projects
- Strong understanding of M&E materials, sequencing, and installation constraints
- Experience working on complex, live construction sites (manufacturing / industrial preferred)
- Excellent organisational, coordination, and communication skills
- Strong knowledge of health & safety and logistics best practice
- SMSTS or SSSTS (preferred)
- Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple stakeholders
