The Opportunity: We are partnering with one of the UK’s leading and most respected Tier-1 Main Contractors to source an experienced Building Services Manager to lead the MEP delivery on a flagship £40 million Department for Education (DfE) project in Kent. Operating with a highly effective hybrid model, your time will be split between driving the pre-construction/procurement stages from the vibrant London regional office and overseeing live delivery on-site in Kent. This geographical setup makes it an exceptional opportunity for an established MEP/Building Services professional living in or around the Kent region who wants major project exposure without a daily central London commute during the delivery phase.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership: Lead the MEP strategy on a £40m educational facility, ensuring delivery aligns with strict DfE output specifications.
  • Design & Coordination: Review MEP design proposals, identify buildability issues early, and manage technical queries between the design team and specialist subcontractors.
  • Subcontractor Management: Manage the procurement, onboarding, and day-to-day site performance of key tier-2 MEP subcontractors.
  • Quality & Compliance: Ensure absolute adherence to QA/QC standards, statutory compliance, and modern building safety regulations.
  • Commissioning & Handover: Formulate, execute, and manage robust commissioning, testing, and soft-landings programs.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary mechanical and electrical point of contact for client representatives, site teams, and local authorities.

About You:

  • Proven Track Record: Extensive experience as a Building Services Manager / MEP Manager working for a recognized Main Contractor.
  • Sector Experience: Prior delivery experience on major DfE, higher education, or equivalent large-scale public sector frameworks (£20m+ values) is highly advantageous.
  • Technical Expertise: A strong core background in either Mechanical or Electrical engineering, backed by excellent multi-service coordination skills.
  • Qualifications: Valid CSCS card, SMSTS certification, and ideally an HNC/HND or Degree in Building Services Engineering (or equivalent trade background).
  • Location: Commutable to both Central London and Kent sites.
