A leading developer is seeking a Technical Manager to oversee fire safety, façade remediation, and complex projects across London. Based from the Essex office, you will act as the key link between design, compliance, and delivery teams, ensuring all works meet regulatory and fire safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership & Compliance: Lead technical oversight on fire safety, cladding, façade and remediation works. Ensure full compliance with Building Regulations, the Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Act, and relevant fire standards. Review specialist reports, surveys, design proposals, and engineering documentation. Maintain the Golden Thread of information and support production of Safety Case and handover files.
- Design Coordination: Coordinate design information between consultants, contractors, fire engineers and façade specialists. Review and approve design packages, ensuring accuracy and regulatory alignment. Support procurement through technical review of subcontractor bids and proposals. Chair technical and design coordination meetings.
- Project & Stakeholder Support: Work with project managers to ensure technical requirements align with programme and buildability. Provide solutions to on-site technical challenges and liaise with regulatory stakeholders. Support quality inspections, technical audits and compliance reviews. Manage design risks and oversee change control processes.
Experience & Skills Required
Essential:
- Strong background as a Technical Manager, Design Manager or similar within fire safety or remediation.
- Deep understanding of fire safety, cladding systems, façade remediation and building regulations.
- Knowledge of the Building Safety Act.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design and remediation teams.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
- Experience on London-based remediation/refurbishment projects.
- Familiarity with CDE platforms (Asite, Aconex, Viewpoint).
- Professional memberships beneficial but not essential.
