£60m Commercial Refurbishment & Life Sciences | King's Cross, London | Tier 1 Main Contractor

Skilled Careers are working with a leading Tier 1 main contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced Finishing Manager on a major £60m commercial refurbishment and life sciences development in Central London.

This is a key appointment within an established project team, offering the opportunity to take ownership of quality inspections, snagging management and the handover process on a technically challenging scheme.

The Project

The scheme involves the extensive refurbishment and extension of an existing commercial building to deliver a high-specification life sciences facility for a single occupier.

The project is progressing well, with external façade works nearing completion and internal MEP and fit-out works underway across multiple workfaces.

With practical completion targeted for April 2027, the business is looking to appoint an experienced Finishing Manager to oversee the quality assurance, snagging and handover process, with the ambition of achieving a zero-defect completion.

The Role

Working closely with the senior delivery team, you will take responsibility for managing the snagging, inspection and handover process through to practical completion.

This is a quality-focused management position rather than a traditional finishing trade delivery role. You will coordinate inspections, manage defect reporting and work alongside the operational team to ensure outstanding items are addressed efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Taking ownership of the snagging, quality inspection and handover process.
  • Coordinating internal quality inspections and client-facing inspections.
  • Utilising Fieldview to record, monitor, report and close out snagging items.
  • Tracking outstanding defects and producing regular progress reports.
  • Working closely with the operational delivery team to prioritise and coordinate remedial works.
  • Ensuring the project achieves the highest possible standards of quality and presentation.
  • Managing inspection schedules and supporting the project through practical completion.
  • Providing initial post-completion aftercare and defect close-out support.
  • Ensuring a smooth transition from the project delivery team to the dedicated aftercare team.

About the Contractor

Our client is a well-established, privately owned Tier 1 main contractor with a longstanding reputation for delivering complex construction projects throughout the UK.

Operating across commercial, healthcare, education, life sciences and specialist construction sectors, the business has an established London operation and a strong pipeline of future projects.

The company is recognised for its collaborative approach, commitment to quality and long-term investment in its people.

About You

  • Experienced Finishing Manager, Quality Manager or Site Manager with a strong background in project completion and handover.
  • Proven experience managing snagging and defect close-out processes on major construction projects.
  • Strong attention to detail and a thorough understanding of construction quality standards.
  • Experience coordinating internal inspections, client inspections and handover documentation.
  • Competent using Fieldview or similar digital quality management software.
  • Confident communicating with subcontractors, operational teams and client representatives.
  • Previous experience on commercial refurbishment, fit-out or high-specification construction projects would be advantageous.

Salary & Package

£65,000 basic salary + comprehensive benefits package.

An excellent opportunity for an experienced, quality-focused manager to play an integral role in delivering a prestigious London project to the highest standards.
