A long-standing consultancy in the heart of London is seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer to join their growing Development Infrastructure team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality design solutions across a diverse portfolio of urban development projects.
About the Role
You will lead and contribute to the design and delivery of civil engineering projects, with a focus on:
- Development infrastructure for residential, commercial, and mixed‑use schemes
- Highways and road layout design
- Foul and surface water drainage systems
- Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and flood risk mitigation
- Site levels, earthworks and external works design
You’ll collaborate closely with internal teams, clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, sustainably, and to the highest technical standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of detailed designs, technical reports, and specifications
- Oversee and mentor junior engineers and technicians
- Manage project deadlines, budgets, and client expectations
- Use industry‑standard design software (e.g., Civil 3D, MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage)
- Liaise with planning and regulatory bodies to secure approvals
- Contribute to the development of best practices and innovative design approaches
About You
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Chartered or working towards Chartership (ICE or equivalent)
- Strong experience in development infrastructure design, roads, drainage, and SuDS
- Proficient in relevant design software and current UK design standards
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team
