Design Manager

Skilled Careers are currently looking for a Design Manager to join a high-end residential developer. The Design Manager will work on large-scale residential schemes in Central London worth £50+ Million. The ideal candidate will have experience working on external and internal packages for a residential developer or main contractor on schemes in and around the London area. If you are a Design Manager and actively looking for an opportunity to work on exciting schemes, this could be the role for you!

Responsibilities

  1. Oversee the preparation of the optimisation process through to sign off.
  2. Brief, manage and drive the external consultants in the preparation and issue of production information to an agreed programme.
  3. Prepare technical specifications in line with requirements determined by the Land Acquisition budget and Technical/Sales Meetings.
  4. Ensure all statutory enquiries, crossovers, sewer connections are submitted and pursued for their timely return.
  5. Oversee the NHBC/Building Regulations applications to approval.
  6. Ensure that working drawings are in accordance with the approved Planning Scheme.
  7. Preparation of Health & Safety Plans.
  8. Monitor and control all production information in close liaison with the Development Estimator to ensure tight cost controls are kept and information produced in line with budget estimates.
  9. Oversee preparation of Brochure Plans, Conveyance Plans and Sales Area drawings.
  10. Attend site progress meetings and carry out site inspections.
  11. Attend meetings at various stages of projects (Land/Technical hand-over, Project Meeting, Optimisation, Technical/Sales, Budget Meetings, etc.).
  12. General liaison and coordination between other parties, both internal and external.
  13. Attend Subcontractor interviews.
  14. Respond to site queries and resolve Technical/Construction items that may arise.

Skills & Requirements

  1. Developer or main contractor experience essential.
  2. Experience of working on high-end multi-unit residential projects.
  3. Good/Excellent technical knowledge of both residential and commercial construction, together with a degree of flair for design.
  4. The experience or the ability to understand the complexities of complex mixed-use Regeneration projects.
