I'm working with a growing specialist contractor that is investing heavily in its Pre-Construction division, with a significant pipeline of projects across the South. They're now looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team and work closely with the Commercial Manager across a growing portfolio of projects. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants more than just managing the commercial side of individual schemes. The role will also give you the opportunity to lead, mentor and develop junior commercial staff, while helping shape the processes and standards of a growing division.

The Role

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the Pre-Construction team, you'll take responsibility for the commercial management and performance of your allocated projects, working closely with the Commercial Manager and wider pre-construction team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the commercial performance of allocated projects
  • Producing and reviewing CVRs
  • Cost management and cost planning
  • Managing the tendering process
  • Reviewing and leading tender adjudications
  • Monitoring commercial performance and delegated authorities
  • Reviewing commercial information produced by the wider team
  • Working closely with the Commercial Manager on commercial governance and reporting
  • Supporting and developing Assistant Quantity Surveyors, Graduates and Apprentices
  • Providing leadership, guidance and commercial direction to less experienced members of the team
  • Helping establish and improve commercial processes within the growing division

About You

We're looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor who is comfortable operating at Senior Quantity Surveyor and wants to take genuine ownership of their work. You'll ideally have:

  • Strong experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Lead Quantity Surveyor
  • A strong commercial background within construction, property services, refurbishment or planned works
  • Experience across cost management, cost planning, tendering and CVRs
  • Experience managing the commercial performance of projects
  • The confidence to lead and develop junior commercial professionals
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A proactive and hands-on approach
  • The ambition to develop within a growing business

If you're an experienced Senior QS looking for a role where you can take the next step, have genuine influence and help build something rather than simply maintain an established structure, I'd be keen to hear from you. Apply now or get in touch for a confidential discussion.
