An established and reputable M&E contractor is seeking an experienced Freelance Health & Safety Advisor to support the delivery of a large-scale manufacturing facility in Somerset. This is a site-based role, working closely with the project, construction, and supply chain teams to promote a strong safety culture and ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards throughout the project.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day health & safety support across the M&E works on site
- Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with H&S legislation, company policies, and project requirements
- Carry out site inspections, audits, and behavioural safety observations
- Support the preparation, review, and implementation of RAMS and permits to work
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents, producing reports and corrective actions
- Deliver toolbox talks, briefings, and safety inductions as required
- Liaise with site management, subcontractors, and client teams on all H&S matters
- Promote continuous improvement and a proactive safety culture on site
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Health & Safety Advisor on M&E or construction projects
- Experience working on large, complex sites (manufacturing / industrial projects preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of UK H&S legislation and best practice
- NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (essential)
- IOSH membership or working towards (preferred)
- Confident communicator with the ability to engage at all levels on site
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced site environment
