We are currently seeking experienced Design Managers based in or around Hertfordshire to join a growing team delivering some of the UK's most exciting data centre projects. This is an excellent opportunity to work on large-scale, technically complex developments with a leading contractor, where you'll play a key role in managing the design process from pre-construction through to project completion.

The Role

As Design Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing the design process to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and to the highest quality standards. Working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and project teams, you will drive design solutions that support successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the design process throughout all project stages.
  • Coordinate architects, consultants, specialist subcontractors and internal teams.
  • Review design information for buildability, compliance and commercial viability.
  • Ensure design programmes align with project delivery schedules.
  • Identify and manage design risks and resolve technical issues.
  • Attend client, consultant and project coordination meetings.
  • Support pre-construction activities, procurement and value engineering.

About You

We're looking for candidates who have:

  • Proven experience as a Design Manager on data centre projects.
  • Previous employment with either a main contractor or a building services/design consultancy.
  • Strong technical understanding of complex building services and construction.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple design packages in a fast-paced environment.
  • A relevant construction, engineering or architectural qualification (preferred).
