I am looking to speak with experienced Design Managers to join a growing team in Cambridge. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of design coordination across a variety of impactful projects, including those within the Department for Education (DfE) sector.
While DfE project experience is highly desirable, it is not essential; I am still looking for strong design managers with a background in construction, architecture, engineering, or similar disciplines who are eager to diversify their project portfolio.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the design process through pre-construction and delivery phases
- Coordinate internal teams, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure design information is delivered on time and to the required standard
- Oversee design reviews, risk management, and technical compliance
- Work closely with the project team to ensure buildability, cost efficiency, and programme alignment
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies as required
- Support value engineering and design optimisation strategies
- Proven experience as a Design Manager within the construction or built environment sector
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple design packages and stakeholders simultaneously
- Working knowledge of relevant building regulations and design processes
- DfE experience is advantageous but not mandatory
- You must be based in the Cambridge area or within a commutable distance to be considered
