Skilled Careers is partnering with a Sussex based main contractor that has secured multiple refurbishment projects across Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire and Kent. Due to the increase in workload it is now time to increase the size of their SHEQ team by recruiting a construction focused Health & Safety Manager.
Base location: East Sussex
Contract type: Permanent
Salary: £52,000 - £60,000 (DOE) + package

The company: A Sussex based leading contractor that specialise in refurbishment contracts in occupied complexes across the East and West of the county.
The role: The Health and Safety department supports the business to reduce H&S risk and create positive working environments and the purpose of a H&S Manager is to support stakeholders to achieve the highest levels of H&S performance. As a key member of the H&S team you will be working closely with assigned projects teams and project supply chain members to give high quality support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and help rectify any competence issues for projects that you support
- Provide high levels of Health & Safety support and advice to assigned projects
- Identify and escalate any resource issues, which could create a H&S risk for projects you support
- Support implementation and embedment of companywide H&S strategy objectives
- Contribute to work winning activity when required
- Influence and support project personnel to lead and engage in H&S
- Promote and help create a positive H&S reporting culture
Your profile
Essential:
- Member of IOSH
- Excellent people leadership skills
- Experience of providing highly technical H&S support to Construction projects within UK.
- Competent understanding and ability to apply root cause analysis
- Excellent communication and influencing skills
- Experience of leading H&S improvement with successful results
- A proactive approach to your own learning and development
- Strong technical background with experience in construction projects that require crane and scaffold operations
Desired:
- Chartered member of IOSH
- NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ Level 5/6 in Occupational Health and Safety
- Lifting Experience
- Senior Leadership Team experience
- Sound understanding of behavioural psychology and human factors
- Involvement in external HS&W working groups
