We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Hardware Technician to join our team on a full-time basis in High Wycombe, Western Australia. The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, installing, testing and repairing computer hardware, peripheral equipment, related systems and associated ICT infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support and practical hardware services to ensure the efficient operation of computer systems, devices and related equipment.
- Diagnose hardware and system faults, perform repairs and replacements, support users with technical issues, and assist with the installation and configuration of ICT equipment used in the business.
- Installing, configuring, testing and maintaining computer hardware, workstations, laptops, servers, peripheral equipment and related devices.
- Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software and system performance issues.
- Repairing or replacing faulty components, peripheral equipment, printers, scanners, terminals, modems and associated devices.
- Assessing hardware and software requirements and recommending practical solutions to operational or technical problems.
- Installing, updating and configuring operating systems, drivers, firmware, applications and related software where required.
- Responding to user enquiries and providing technical assistance for hardware, software and equipment issues.
- Supporting the implementation and maintenance of computer networks and connected devices.
- Ensuring computer systems, applications and equipment are used efficiently and securely.
- Maintaining accurate records of repairs, installations, servicing, equipment changes and technical support activities.
- Liaising with suppliers, service providers and internal staff regarding hardware faults, warranties, replacement parts and technical requirements.
- Assisting with routine preventative maintenance and equipment lifecycle management.
Qualifications:
- Relevant qualification in ICT, computer systems, hardware maintenance, electronics, networking or a related technical discipline.
- Preferred: AQF Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Associate Degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Systems, Electronics, Networking or related field.
- Relevant vendor or industry certifications in computer hardware, networking, systems support or ICT maintenance.
- Equivalent relevant employment experience of at least 3 years may be considered where formal qualifications are not available.
Skills:
- Strong technical knowledge of computer hardware, peripheral devices and operating systems.
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair hardware and system faults.
- Practical knowledge of software installation, driver updates, system configuration and device compatibility.
- Understanding of basic networking, cabling, connectivity and ICT infrastructure.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation, manuals and system specifications.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to explain technical matters clearly to non-technical users.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accurate record keeping.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to safe work practices and proper handling of ICT equipment.
Experience:
- Relevant experience in hardware support, computer maintenance, ICT technical support, systems servicing, equipment installation or a similar technical role.
- Experience in installing, configuring, testing and repairing computer hardware and peripheral equipment.
- Experience providing technical support to users in a business or operational environment.
- Experience diagnosing hardware, software and connectivity issues.
- Experience supporting workstations, laptops, printers, scanners, modems, routers and other ICT equipment.
- Experience maintaining technical records, service logs and equipment documentation.
- Experience working in a fast-paced technical support or service environment.
