This is an opportunity to achieve a qualification and skills in horticulture, while gaining practical experience alongside other horticulturists.
Duties include:
- Carrying out all aspects of soft landscaping
- Practicing safe systems of work
- Ensuring all tools are stored correctly
- Contributing fully to team working
- Undertaking all aspects of commercial soft landscaping
- Soil Preparation
- Planting
- Mulching
- Tree Planting
- Turfing & Seeding
- Operating small machinery e.g. Rotovators and Tillers
Entry requirements: Functional skills level 1 is a requirement for this qualification with support for learners who don’t have the equivalent grade 2. However, working to level 2 will be put in place.
Skills required:
- Customer care skills
- Physical fitness
Training to be provided:
- Full Level 2 Horticultural apprenticeship, training delivered in the workplace
- Level 2 Horticultural Qualification
- Functional skills if applicable
Things to consider:
- This is a physical role working in all weathers outdoors.
- The work at times is physical so fitness is essential.
- Must be able to get to the site to start the day.
- Due to the use of site machinery, candidates must be 18 years old or over.
- Ideally, you will hold a driver's licence or be in the process of obtaining one.
- A permanent position may be offered upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.
- Opportunity to learn and develop within the company.
- Progression on to higher apprenticeship/training.
