Higher Maxworthy Farm is based in Launceston, Cornwall. They have Spring calving grazing herds and a strong focus on cow health, low-cost sustainable, and profitable milk production. Milk goes to Arla and Sabuto. They are forward-thinking and proactive, investing in the future. Recent growth and development have included 3 modern dairy units, with the most recent being developed in 2017/18. With modern swing over parlours and a network of cow tracks facilitating easy access to grazing, cows are grazed for 10 months of the year.

We are looking for candidates with a full UK driving licence who are looking to grow their career in agriculture, as there are opportunities for permanent employment. Each day may bring new challenges and opportunities, including dealing with the British weather!
The main duties will include but are not limited to:
- Spring calving working on 2 dairy units
- Operating farm machinery including tractors and attachments
- Monitoring livestock
- Handling livestock and providing appropriate accommodation for them
- Working in a team and keeping records
Interview will be via 1 day work trial.
Entry requirements:
- Agricultural experience preferred but not essential.
- You will preferably hold Maths & English GCSE at grade C or above.
- A full driving licence is essential.
Skills required:
- Physical fitness
Training will be provided, and you will be supported by an assessor throughout your apprenticeship. As you progress through your apprenticeship, your duties and responsibilities will alter as you develop the skills for a successful career in agriculture. Training will be a mix of face-to-face and online learning. You will gain a General Farm Worker Level 2 qualification with further opportunities for training, development, and permanent employment upon completion.

This is a physical job within a small team. Activities are carried out outside and inside in all weathers. 30 hours per week working 5 in 7 days rota with split shifts, a 1 in 3 working weekend with flexible days off. Hours/days will vary depending on business needs. Please ensure you research the location and transport access prior to applying.
