The Farmers is an award-winning pub, wine bar and restaurant located in the heart of the bustling market and festival town of Ulverston, situated opposite the Market Cross with views of the old cobbled streets. Known by many as the best place to eat in Ulverston, South Lakes and the Furness area, The Farmers Arms offers fantastic homemade, locally sourced food, traditional real ales and fine wine.

Do you love meeting new people? Would you enjoy providing the best customer service to enhance our guests' experience? For our front of house operation, we are looking for Food & Beverage Hospitality Team Member Apprentices to serve food and beverages to our customers, take payments, clear tables, replenish sauces etc. You will be given full training and complete a nationally recognised qualification working alongside our experienced team.

If you have experience in Hospitality then that’s great, but it isn’t essential. What is needed is the willingness to learn whilst gaining practical skills and a commitment to achieving your Apprenticeship.

We are offering a 30-hour contract with flexible hours over a 7-day period (some late shifts may be required). We are looking to pay an Apprentice wage of £8.00 per hour to start with, reviewed every 12 weeks and will increase dependent on performance.

  • Second 12 week block: £8.50 (dependent on satisfactory completion of first block)
  • Third 12 week block: £9.00 (dependent on satisfactory completion of second block)
  • Fourth 12 week block: £10.00 (dependent on satisfactory completion of third block)

On successful completion of the course, it will enable the candidate to apply for a full-time position within the company with a strong chance of permanent employment.

Entry requirements include Maths and English at Level 2 (GCSE Grade 4) which is desirable; however, we can provide Functional Skills as part of your development plan. Experience within Hospitality is also desirable.

Training will be provided and you will be supported by an assessor throughout your apprenticeship. As you progress through your apprenticeship, your duties and responsibilities will alter as you develop the skills for a successful career in hospitality. Training will be a mix of face-to-face and learning. You will gain a Level 2 Food & Beverage Team Member Apprenticeship Qualification and Functional Skills in Maths and English if required.

Things to consider: Hospitality roles can be physically demanding with prolonged periods of time on your feet. This is a full-time role which will require flexibility with hours over a 7-day period (some late shifts may be required - please check transport links). Contracted hours will be 30 pw. Candidates must be 17+ due to licensing laws. Start as soon as possible.
