Buxton & McNulty Mechanical Services was formed in March 2003. The company became incorporated on 4th April 2005. The company was formed to provide mechanical services. We specialise in pipework installations covering public health, heating, chilled water, condensate, gas and fuel services. We offer on site welding and have a fabrication shop where pipe can be made to measure and delivered to site. We have extensive experience and have undertaken many projects working on commercial properties, residential, hospitals, schools and prisons. Over the last few years our company has expanded steadily through repeat business.

As a Level 3 Building Services Technician Apprentice you will learn essential technical competencies while contributing to the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of building operations, gaining hands‑on experience using cutting‑edge tools and software, preparing you for a successful career in building services engineering and systems management

Embark on an exciting journey as a Level 3 Building Services Technician Apprentice, where you'll develop advanced skills in maintaining, troubleshooting, and designing building systems. Duties

Use AutoCAD and Revit to create detailed schematics and system layouts for building projects.

Support system design processes by applying principles of systems engineering and analyzing schematics to troubleshoot issues effectively.

Participate in fabrication and assembly tasks utilizing CAD software and fabrication techniques to develop prototypes or repair parts.

Support product development initiatives by applying mechanical knowledge, math skills, and technical documentation to improve existing systems or develop new solutions.

Entry requirements

You will be expected to have at least 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including English, Maths and Science at Grade 5 or above (or their equivalent).

  • Provision of Primary Services
  • Building Services Science
  • Use of Static and Dynamic Fluids in Building Services
  • Graphical Detailing for Construction
  • Further Mathematics for Construction
  • Management of a Construction Project

Apprentices will develop the necessary Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours to be a competent Civil Engineer as outlined by CIBSE, these include

Knowledge:

  • K1: Appropriate engineering principles, underpinned by relevant mathematical, scientific, and technical knowledge and understanding, relating to building services engineering (BSE)
  • K2: Appropriate BSE techniques and methods used to design, install, commission, maintain or operate buildings and infrastructure
  • K3: Key principles, techniques and methods of data and technical information collection, analysis and evaluation used in delivering BSE models

Skills:

  • S1: Apply appropriate BSE principles, techniques, and methods, including mathematical, scientific, and technical know‑how
  • S2: Apply key principles, techniques and methods of data and technical information collection, analysis and evaluation to support the delivery of BSE models
  • S3: Operate computer‑based software packages, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD) or modelling software (Revit)

Behaviour:

  • B1: Complies with health, safety and welfare requirements, industry standards, statutory regulation and legislation, policies, and codes of practice
  • B2: Works independently, operating in a systematic, proactive, and transparent way, using resources effectively to complete tasks, knowing their limitations and when to ask for support or expand
