Job Description:
As a Pharmacist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective dispensing of medications, providing patient counseling, and delivering excellent customer service. You will work collaboratively with the pharmacy team to uphold the highest standards of pharmaceutical care and compliance with legal and professional requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Prescription dispensing: Accurately and efficiently dispense prescription medications, ensuring the correct medication, dosage, and labeling according to legal and professional standards.
- Patient counseling: Provide comprehensive medication counseling to patients, explaining medication usage, potential side effects, and precautions to ensure proper understanding and adherence to therapy.
- Medication review: Conduct medication reviews and perform interventions to identify and resolve any potential medication-related problems, optimizing patient health outcomes.
- Day to day: Pharmacy management, staff oversight and day to day management, monthly and quarterly reporting and submissions, maintenance of SOPs and regulatory compliance.
- Compliance and regulations: Comply with all legal and professional requirements, including those set by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), and NHS regulations.
- Quality assurance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all dispensing activities, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and carrying out regular audits to ensure high standards of dispensing accuracy and patient safety.
- Stock management: Oversee the pharmacy's stock levels, including ordering, receiving, and monitoring of medication inventory, minimizing wastage, and ensuring availability of essential medications.
- Team collaboration: Collaborate effectively with the pharmacy team, including Pharmacy Technicians and Dispensing Assistants, to ensure smooth workflow, efficient operations, and excellent customer service.
- Continuous professional development: Stay updated with the latest developments in pharmacy practice, attend relevant training, and engage in continuous professional development (CPD) activities to enhance knowledge and skills.
Requirements:
- GPHC registration as a Pharmacist is essential.
- Proven experience working as a Pharmacist in a community pharmacy or similar setting.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy regulations, legal requirements, and professional standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide patient-centered care and interact effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, and the pharmacy team.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in prescription dispensing and documentation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Effective organizational and time management skills to handle multiple responsibilities and prioritise workload effectively.
