Global Electrical Safety Manager (UK or USA Based)

Role Overview

The Global Electrical Safety Manager will play a critical role in building and leading Skanwear's global electrical safety initiatives. This individual will be at the forefront of fostering collaboration across industry professionals, regulatory bodies, and solution providers while providing expert guidance to customers on enhancing their electrical safety programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Community Leadership: Develop and lead a global electrical safety hub, bringing together industry professionals, customers, and solution providers to collaborate, innovate, and share best practices.
• Advisory Expertise: Offer trusted, impartial advice to customers, helping them improve their electrical safety programs through deep technical knowledge and alignment with industry best practices.
• Strategic Partnerships: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the electrical safety ecosystem, including regulatory bodies, industry experts, and solution providers (e.g., OEMs, O&Ms, training providers).
• Thought Leadership: Represent Skanwear as a thought leader through active participation in industry events; including the organising and hosting of our world renowned Global Electrical Safety Conferences. You will be involved in authoring publications/white papers, hosting webinars, and engaging with our customer community, all while promoting our "You Ask, We Tell" strategy.
• Customer Engagement: Serve as a direct point of contact for customers seeking guidance on electrical safety, delivering tailored, actionable solutions that address their unique challenges and support their safety goals.
• Mission Alignment: Ensure all initiatives align with Skanwear's "Saving Lives" mission, prioritising measurable improvements in electrical safety outcomes worldwide.

Minimum Requirements

• The ideal candidate must possess comprehensive expertise in electrical safety, including but not limited to:
• Thorough understanding of arc flash risks, their causes, and their impact on personnel and equipment.
• Familiarity with methods to mitigate arc flash risks, including PPE solutions, electrical design, and engineering controls.
• Knowledge of how to conduct and interpret arc flash risk assessments in compliance with global standards.
• Electrical Safety Standards & Regulations: A knowledge and understanding of international standards and guidelines, including but not limited to:
• NFPA 70E (USA): Electrical Safety in the Workplace.
• IEEE 1584: Guide for Performing Arc-Flash Hazard Calculations.
• OSHA (USA): Electrical safety compliance requirements -1910 Subpart S: General electrical safety / 1926 Subpart K: Electrical safety in construction.
• ANSI/IEEE C2 (National Electrical Safety Code)
• Various EU Directives relating to Electrical Safety e.g. 2014/35/EU.
• UK Electricity at Work Act 1989 and relevant BS standards.
• Other country-specific regulations as applicable.
• Note: it is not expected for the candidate to have a thorough knowledge of every regulation above but at least a strength in the country legislation where they are located, and a desire to learn and broaden their regulatory understanding over time for regulations that fall outside of their country of residence.
• Electrical Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with low, medium, and high-voltage electrical systems and associated risks.
• Understanding of how electrical systems are designed, operated, and maintained to ensure safety.
• Awareness of lockout/tagout procedures and their critical role in preventing electrical injuries.
• Hazard Analysis & Risk Mitigation: Expertise in conducting electrical hazard assessments, including task-based risk analysis.
• Ability to recommend and implement control measures to minimise risks (engineering controls, administrative controls, and PPE selection).
• Experience in analysing electrical incidents, identifying root causes, and developing prevention strategies.
• Ability to design and deliver training programmes to prevent future incidents and increase safety awareness.
• Industry Innovations & Trends: Up-to-date knowledge of the latest technologies, tools, and methods to improve electrical safety (e.g., predictive maintenance, advanced PPE materials, and digital tools for risk assessments).
• Familiarity with emerging trends and developments in electrical safety and their implications for global organizations.
• Training & Communication: Strong ability to educate and train diverse audiences, from frontline workers to senior management, on electrical safety principles and practices.
• Capable of communicating technical information in an accessible and engaging way.
