Right now, we are looking for a static Multi Skilled Engineer - Electrical, to be based full time at MoD Main Building, undertaking PPM, testing, repairs and new installation work covering a wide range of electrical equipment, services, systems and buildings associated with the running of a large building.

What you’ll do:

  • Support the Facilities Management in the provision of a maintenance service within the defence estate.
  • Comply with all statutory and regulatory requirements, including Health and Safety legislation and safe systems of work in accordance with JSP375.
  • Work safely on ELV/LV and generated electrical systems in accordance with all statutory electrical regulations and health and safety legislation as appointed Competent Person (LV) for Skanska.
  • Take responsibility for the maintenance of equipment, plant, services and systems including undertaking inspection and testing of electrical equipment and installations including portable appliances.
  • Diagnose faults and repair within the PMS time periods a variety of complex equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations or best practice guidance.
  • Actively participate in the operation and control of engineering planned maintenance scheme and complete all report sheets and test certificates where necessary.
  • Carry out electrical installations for new work or alterations in compliance with IEE Regulations, HSWA, JSP375 and any other applicable regulations or legislation.
  • Be able to carry out basic mechanical services works to a competent level as outlined in the electrical to mechanical conversion course on plant, equipment and services.
  • Work within fine tolerances and calibrate sensitive equipment within safety guidelines.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Commercial / relevant trade experience.
  • Good knowledge of H&S Legislation and some knowledge of COSHH.
  • BTEC/HNC or City & Guilds Craft certificate or equivalent.
  • A recognised apprenticeship.
  • Certificate in 18th Edition IEE Regulation (Current).

This role requires a minimum level of security clearance and may also require a higher level of National Security Vetting. You should be aware that certain levels of clearance or specific projects and/or sites have UK residency requirements; and any dual or multiple nationalities must be declared. Any persons who do not fulfil these residency requirements may be unable to obtain the required level of clearance and would not be eligible to undertake this role.
