We’re excited to open applications for our 2026 Apprenticeship Programme, starting in September. This is your opportunity to build a meaningful career where your work contributes to healthier, greener, and more inclusive places for people to thrive.

Our apprenticeship programme is a great opportunity to study towards a college or university qualification while putting everything you have learnt into action through on-the-job training. You will have the support of mentors who care about your growth, and you will establish a career where you will develop the technical and interpersonal skills to help you succeed and make a lasting impact.

As a Degree Apprentice Project Controls Trainee, you will become part of our commercial team on HS2. Join Skanska, as part of the Skanska Costain STRABAG joint venture, where we’re working on the biggest infrastructure project in Europe, which gives us the opportunity to develop and implement new construction techniques that deliver a step-change and long-lasting benefits for our industry.

What you'll do:

  • Updating programmes and schedules to reflect the plan to complete the works.
  • Assessment of threats and opportunities, identification of mitigations and quantitative risk analysis.
  • Preparing and presenting project reports to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Assessing performance using both quantity and earned value methods.
  • Control of costs and bills of quantities.
  • Updating and maintaining the work breakdown structure for the project.
  • Assessment of change and management of them through the governance processes.
  • Manipulate and analyse complex data using various software packages.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • 112 UCAS Tariff points from 3 A-levels, T-Levels, BTECs or equivalent level 3 qualification.
  • 5 GCSEs at Grades 4-9 including Maths and English or their equivalent for us to successfully enrol you on the apprenticeship.
  • Thrive in a collaborative environment where your contributions are valued and celebrated.
  • Dependable team player who actively supports and promotes collective success.
  • Inquisitive and driven by a passion to grow and innovate.
  • You must have lived in the UK in the last 3 years and have the right to work in the UK to be eligible for an apprenticeship.
  • We are not able to proceed with applications that require visa sponsorship.
  • We are not able to proceed with applications from candidates that have already achieved a degree in a similar discipline.

What qualification will you be studying towards?

You will be studying a level 6 qualification in Civil Engineering at a nearby university.

What we offer:

  • You will join a community of 100+ graduates and apprentices, with opportunities to build networks and collaborate across the business.
  • Support and guidance from experienced leaders and teams, plus development pathways to help you achieve professional accreditation — we cover membership expenses for the professional body of your choice.
  • Regular professional and social events.
  • Opportunities to volunteer at least one day per year.
  • Access to our employee networks including Women’s, Ability, Pride, O.N.E (Origins Nationality Ethnicity), Military, and Mental Health & Wellbeing.
  • My Rewards discounts and cycle to work scheme to support a healthy work–life balance where possible.
  • You would be joining a mental-health-aware organisation and will have access to wellbeing support through our employee assistance programme, mental health ambassador network and wellbeing conversations.

Programme start date: September 2026 - Join our team of 27,000 problem solvers and creative thinkers, where knowledge is our greatest creation. We share, listen and support your success – every step of the way.
