What do you want from your work? From your life?
If you’re looking for more than just a job, if you want to make a real difference with every decision you make, you’re in the right place. Skanska is one of the largest construction and development companies in the world. Together, we shape how we live, work and connect – we build from the ground up and maintain your local communities, infrastructure and transportation.
We’re excited to open applications for our 2026 Graduate Programme, starting in September. This is your opportunity to build a meaningful career where your work contributes to healthier, greener, and more inclusive places for people to thrive.
Our three-year ICE-accredited Graduate programme helps you build on your degree, learn, progress, and achieve your ambitions—while making a positive impact on the communities we serve. As a Graduate Engineer with Cementation, you’ll experience the full life cycle of piling and foundation projects through a rotational programme—from tendering to site delivery. You’ll develop your geotechnical and civil engineering skills with hands-on experience, mentoring, and access to innovative digital tools. Join us to shape the future through safe, sustainable, and collaborative project delivery.
What you’ll do:
- Work as part of a team on-site, in the delivery of often challenging and complex geotechnical projects
- Liaise with clients and a variety of professionals including principal contractors, consulting engineers and other sub-contractors
- Work with our in-house technical team, in developing knowledge in most aspects of pile and retaining wall design, along with Ground Engineering techniques
- Help us resolve design and development problems
- Prepare estimates and bids
- Be part of the team delivering design piled foundation schemes
- Commit to the requirements of Skanska’s environment and health and safety policies
What you’ll bring to the role:
- Studying towards or having completed a Civil Engineering or Geotechnical degree
- You will need to be flexible with locations as our projects are based nationwide
- Values driven, passionate about sustainability and building for a better society
- Enthusiastic to shape the future of construction with Skanska
- This role requires visits to sites across the UK. As such, we would expect you to have a driving licence or work towards obtaining one within your first year of working with us
What we offer:
- You will join a community of 100+ graduates and apprentices, with opportunities to build networks and collaborate across the business
- Support and guidance from experienced leaders and teams, plus development pathways to help you achieve professional accreditation — we cover membership expenses for the professional body of your choice
- Regular professional and social events
- Opportunities to volunteer at least one day per year
- Access to our employee networks including Women’s, Ability, Pride, O.N.E (Origins Nationality Ethnicity), Military, and Mental Health & Wellbeing
- My Rewards discounts and cycle to work scheme to support a healthy work–life balance where possible
- You would be joining a mental-health-aware organisation and will have access to wellbeing support through our employee assistance programme, mental health ambassador network and wellbeing conversations
Programme start date: September 2026 - Join our team of 27,000 problem solvers and creative thinkers, where knowledge is our greatest creation. We share, listen and support your success – every step of the way.
Rotations:
You will be required to undertake placements in different locations (site and office based across the UK). These will range in duration from 1 month up to 9 months and you will receive additional allowances, on top of your basic salary, to assist with the cost of staying away from home or relocating. Some of the office-based placement can be carried out from home if that is something you would like to do. The rotational nature of this programme will give you exposure to an exciting portfolio of piling projects as you experience all stages from tendering to delivery. This will make you a well-rounded engineer and help you in achieving your chartership. Our previous Engineers have enjoyed meeting lots of new people, exploring new cities, and seeing the range of challenges presented across the UK.
