Skanska, one of the world’s leading project development and construction groups, is an inclusive and responsible business that is helping to build a better society.

Due to growth within our Facilities Management contracts, we’re looking for a General Manager – Hard Services FM, to be based in and around South UK. This key role will see you lead and support the growth of our FM portfolio, driving work-winning initiatives and overseeing smooth project mobilisations.

In the early stages of your role, you’ll focus on the strategic, continuous improvement of existing term projects and programmes—working closely with Skanska Building Services portfolio leads. This includes spearheading key projects to enhance FM technology, systems development, supply chain partnerships, productivity, and operational procedures.

This is a pivotal leadership role where you’ll drive operational excellence and lead strategic initiatives across our portfolio. In this senior-level position, you’ll lead the development and delivery of high-performing facilities management solutions across hard services, with a potential oversight of soft services and project works.

You’ll play a key role in:

  • Leading the strategic improvement of existing term projects and mobilisations.
  • Shaping and executing initiatives across FM technology, supply chain partnerships, and operational procedures.
  • Driving profitability, productivity, and cultural excellence across the portfolio.

What you’ll do:

  • Full P&L accountability for projects, delivering Hard FM (and potentially Soft FM) services with excellence.
  • Lead technical compliance, health and safety, quality, and environmental performance.
  • Support contract teams to enhance delivery and work-winning through innovation and operational insight.
  • Apply your expertise in lifecycle works, small works, data-driven decision making, and FM mobilisation.
  • Set and monitor performance targets, proactively managing risks and maximising contract profitability.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • A proven leader with strong commercial and operational acumen.
  • Experience managing Hard FM service delivery, contract P&L, and large-scale mobilisations.
  • A background across diverse FM sectors with a track record of successful strategic and cultural change.
  • A relevant professional qualification is preferred.

Eligibility for Security Clearance (SC) – essential for this role (you must have resided in the UK for the past 5 years). This role requires a minimum level of security clearance and may also require a higher level of National Security Vetting. You should be aware that certain levels of clearance or specific projects and/or sites have UK residency requirements; and any dual or multiple nationalities must be declared. Any persons who do not fulfil these residency requirements may be unable to obtain the required level of clearance and would not be eligible to undertake this role.
