One of our flagship contracts is with the Ministry of Defence at a major base near Watford – a complex, high-profile environment where we provide a full range of hard, soft, and technical FM services.
We’re now seeking a dynamic Commercial Assistant to assist with the organisation and administration of commercial and financial aspects on a huge MoD FM contract. The Commercial Assistant will be required to support with co-ordinating the flow of documentation and processes adhering to Skanska procedures in relation to supply chain payments, invoicing, procurement and reporting in order to maintain commercial governance standards.
What You’ll Do
- Review, validate, and process invoices — ensuring fair and timely payments.
- Keep financial trackers and reports up to date and accurate.
- Prepare ad-hoc commercial and financial reports for senior management.
- Support procurement activities: compile tender documents, update procurement plans, and analyse costs vs. forecasts.
- Liaise with the supply chain to chase tenders, insurances, and signed contracts.
- Maintain digital records and ensure all contracts are signed via DocuSign.
- Help keep the team on track by meeting tight deadlines and maintaining commercial governance.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience in a financial or commercial environment.
- Strong understanding of commercial processes and reporting.
- Proficiency with Oracle (or similar ERP systems) and strong Microsoft Excel is mandatory.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to interpret data, meet deadlines, and solve problems efficiently.
- Confident working with client representatives and internal teams.
- A proactive mindset — ready to adopt digital tools and drive continuous improvement.
- Able to gain UK MoD Security Clearance.
- Able to commute and work onsite at HA6.
Please note: This role requires a minimum level of security clearance and may also require a higher level of National Security Vetting. You should be aware that certain levels of clearance or specific projects and/or sites have UK residency requirements; and any dual or multiple nationalities must be declared. Any persons who do not fulfil these residency requirements may be unable to obtain the required level of clearance and would not be eligible to undertake this role.
