This is an opportunity to help shape the future of legal service delivery at Skadden. You will be at the forefront of innovation, working with lawyers, clients, and technologists to transform how we deliver legal services. You will act as the primary liaison between lawyers, practice groups, Knowledge professionals and the firm’s technology teams to identify opportunities for GenAI and technology to enhance service delivery and efficiency. Your work will directly impact the efficiency, profitability, and competitiveness of the firm.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Plan and prioritise how best we use GenAI and legal technology to address key challenges and inefficiencies faced by Skadden’s clients and our lawyers.
  • Take the lead in preparation and delivery of training and pitches to clients, explaining our strategy for incorporating new and existing legal tech and GenAI into our ways of working and the benefits for them.
  • Stay abreast of emerging GenAI and legal technology trends and provide recommendations on potential tools, pilots, and vendor solutions.
  • Work closely with lawyers and relevant Knowledge professionals to develop an understanding of the legal work of each team and map processes so you can advise and assist with the implementation of existing GenAI and legal technology tools and identify gaps/requirements for new solutions.
  • Translate the needs of legal practices into requirements for technology teams, ensuring solutions are fit for purpose and aligned with client demands.
  • Partner with practice leaders, training and Knowledge teams to embed technology and GenAI into workflows, matter management, and client delivery models.
  • Drive adoption of existing and new GenAI and legal technology tools through tailored training, demonstrations, and ongoing support.
  • Support the change management element of adoption, ensuring smooth implementation of new systems and minimising disruption to fee-earners.
  • Monitor usage and adoption levels of GenAI and technology tools; produce reports and insights to highlight impact and areas for improvement.
  • Work with Knowledge, training, innovation, and IT colleagues to create a cohesive approach.
  • Capture and share success stories, case studies, and client benefits to build momentum and enthusiasm for legal tech and GenAI adoption.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong understanding of legal workflows and the challenges faced by lawyers in practice.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to translate between technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering successful change management, process improvement, training, or technology rollouts.
  • Commercially minded with a focus on efficiency, client service, and value creation.
  • Experience of and interest in new and emerging legal technologies including AI/machine learning, automation and collaboration platforms.
  • Highly organised, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of relevant Firm computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systems.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Ability to use discretion and exercise independent and sound judgment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities.
  • Ability to manage sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to organize and prioritise work.
  • Ability to work well in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a team.
  • Flexibility to travel.
  • Flexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a law firm, professional services, or technology adoption/change management role.
  • Graduate in Law, IT, Computer Sciences, Business or other relevant discipline.
  • Prince2, Lean Six Sigma or Prosci certification (or similar) preferred but not essential.
