The Opportunity
SK Professionals Ltd are delighted to be supporting a leading Legal 500 firm with the recruitment of a Solicitor / Associate to join their established Insurance (Complex Claims) team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced insurance litigation solicitor looking to progress their career within a highly regarded and collaborative team, working on a varied caseload of complex defendant insurance claims.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced Partners on complex matters, including catastrophic loss, whilst also managing their own caseload.
The Role
The role will involve handling and supporting on a varied caseload of complex defendant insurance claims, primarily involving Employers’ Liability and Public Liability claims arising from personal injury.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing your own caseload of complex insurance claims.
- Assisting Partners and colleagues on complex and high-value matters, including catastrophic loss.
- Advising clients on complex liability, contractual and indemnity issues.
- Providing strategic legal advice and guidance to commercial clients and insurers.
- Preparing legal documentation, conducting research and assessing financial liability.
- Developing appropriate case strategies and assessing litigation risks.
- Negotiating, mediating and, where appropriate, progressing matters through litigation.
- Liaising with clients, insurers, counsel and other professional advisers.
- Ensuring excellent client care and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Working towards agreed financial and performance targets.
- Contributing to business development and the continued growth of the team.
About You
We are looking for a qualified Solicitor or CILEX equivalent with around 3–5 years' PQE, with strong experience in defendant insurance litigation.
You should ideally have:
- Demonstrable experience of Employers’ Liability and Public Liability claims.
- Strong knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) and insurance litigation processes.
- Experience advising commercial organisations and working with insurers.
- Experience managing your own caseload and working to deadlines and financial targets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and case-management skills.
- A commercial, client-focused approach.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team.
- Experience of high-value or catastrophic loss work would be advantageous, as would experience within the sports or construction sectors.
