Head of Private Client – Lead, Develop and Grow a Department
SK Professionals are working on behalf of an established, multi-office law firm seeking a senior Private Client professional to lead its Private Client department in Rubery.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced solicitor or private client specialist looking to take the next step in their career, with the opportunity to take ownership of an office, develop a team and play a key role in the continued growth of the firm's Private Client offering.
The firm is looking for someone with strong technical experience, a commercial mindset and the confidence to lead from the front. The role will suit an established senior practitioner who enjoys working closely with clients, supporting colleagues and building lasting professional relationships to generate new business.
The Role
As Head of Private Client, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running and development of the department, ensuring high standards of client service while identifying opportunities to increase work and strengthen the firm's presence in the local market.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and developing the Private Client offering within the Rubery office.
- Managing your own varied caseload of private client matters.
- Advising clients on wills, probate, estate administration, trusts, powers of attorney and related private client matters.
- Providing supervision, guidance and mentoring to colleagues within the team.
- Supporting the development of the department, with scope to recruit and build the team as the workload grows.
- Playing an active role in business development, networking and building relationships with clients and professional referrers.
- Identifying opportunities to generate new work and expand the department's client base.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across the firm's other offices to support wider business objectives.
- Contributing to the ongoing success and growth of the Rubery office.
About You
We are keen to hear from experienced Private Client solicitors and other suitably qualified private client professionals who are ready to take on a senior leadership role.
You will ideally have:
- Significant experience handling a broad range of private client matters.
- Strong technical knowledge across wills, probate, estate administration, trusts and lasting powers of attorney.
- The confidence and ability to lead a department and support colleagues.
- A commercial approach, with an interest in business development and growing a client base.
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
- The ability to work independently while contributing to the wider success of the firm.
Previous management or team leadership experience would be advantageous, although the firm is open to speaking with strong senior candidates who are ready to take the next step into a Head of Department or office leadership position.
Experience, attitude and the ability to develop the department are key. The firm is keen to find the right person rather than focus solely on a particular career background or job title.
