Are you an experienced CAD Technician with SolidWorks experience looking to join a successful UK manufacturer? We are seeking a Design & CAD Technician to join our growing Design & Technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience producing manufacturing drawings and 3D models who enjoys working closely with production, sales and engineering teams.
You'll play a key role in turning customer requirements into accurate manufacturing drawings and production-ready designs while supporting the continued development of innovative products.
The Role
- Creating, modifying and maintaining accurate 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks
- Converting customer and sales requirements into practical, manufacturable designs
- Producing detailed technical drawings for manufacturing and production teams
- Managing multiple design requests and prioritising workload to meet deadlines
- Working closely with production teams to resolve design-related queries
- Liaising with sales teams to clarify requirements and minimise rework
- Supporting the creation of high-quality 3D models and product visuals for marketing purposes
- Applying engineering judgement, material awareness and manufacturing knowledge to designs
- Assisting with continuous improvement initiatives and design enhancements
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Previous experience using SolidWorks within a manufacturing, engineering or product design environment
- Experience producing 2D manufacturing drawings and 3D models
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering principles
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
Desirable
- Experience within metal fabrication, sheet metal or manufacturing sectors
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacture (DFM)
- Experience creating product renderings or marketing visuals
- Engineering, Design or CAD-related qualification
