Are you an experienced Credit Controller looking for your next opportunity within a busy and supportive Finance team? We are recruiting for an experienced Credit Controller to join a well-established and growing business based in Bedford on an initial 6-month fixed-term contract, providing maternity cover. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership of customer accounts, building positive relationships and proactively resolving outstanding debt.
You'll join a collaborative Finance team and play an important role in maintaining healthy cash flow, while working closely with customers, Sales and other areas of the business.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Managing customer accounts and proactively chasing outstanding and ageing debt
- Maximising cash collection in line with agreed payment terms
- Accurately allocating incoming payments against outstanding invoices
- Taking and processing customer card payments
- Authorising customer orders in line with agreed processes
- Producing and distributing aged debt reports
- Identifying potential debt issues and ensuring these are highlighted and resolved quickly
- Building positive relationships with customers and internal stakeholders
- Maintaining accurate customer and account records
- Supporting the wider Finance team with additional duties when required
- Identifying opportunities to improve Credit Control processes and ways of working
The core responsibilities are based directly on the role profile, including cash collection, payment allocation, aged-debt reporting, order authorisation and continuous improvement.

- Previous Credit Control experience is essential
- Experience proactively chasing outstanding debt and managing customer accounts
- Good understanding of accounting and finance processes; a formal accounting qualification isn't essential
- Confident and professional communication skills

- Good systems and data-entry skills
