SK Heating and Cooling Ltd is a leading specialist in Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, Mechanical Ventilation, and Heating, delivering high-quality solutions to commercial clients across Gloucestershire, SW England and SE England. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and driven Refrigeration Project Manager to oversee installation projects while providing strong technical and commissioning oversight. This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who can manage projects from concept to completion, whilst ensuring systems are delivered, commissioned, and performing to the highest standards.

The Role

As a Refrigeration Project Manager, you will take full responsibility for the delivery of refrigeration installation projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and profitably. You will also play a key role in the technical delivery of projects, supporting commissioning, performance optimisation, and client handover. Working closely with engineers, suppliers, and clients, you will ensure consistent quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction across all projects.

Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Manage refrigeration projects (replacement system to new installation) from initial survey through to completion and handover
  • Carry out site surveys, estimating, and quoting for new and existing clients
  • Plan and coordinate labour, materials, and subcontractors
  • Monitor project progress, costs, and profitability
  • Manage variations, invoicing, and final accounts
  • Attend client meetings including pre‑start and progress reviews
  • Ensure all project documentation, systems, and internal processes are maintained
  • Ensure projects meet required quality, safety, and compliance standards
  • Handle customer communication and resolve any issues quickly and professionally

Technical & Commissioning Management

  • Lead or oversee commissioning, testing, and start‑up of refrigeration systems
  • Ensure systems are delivered and operating to design parameters
  • Diagnose and resolve on‑site technical issues across plant and controls
  • Carry out system performance checks and optimisation
  • Liaise with manufacturers and design teams to ensure system performance
  • Develop and support operational and maintenance procedures
  • Provide technical support during handover and warranty periods
  • Deliver training to clients on system use and maintenance

Commercial & Operational Responsibilities

  • Ensure projects are delivered within budget and meet margin targets
  • Raise and manage purchase orders and equipment procurement
  • Ensure projects are invoiced accurately and promptly
  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Support growth of the refrigeration installation department

Skills & Qualifications Required

  • Strong technical knowledge of cold rooms, refrigeration systems, and installations
  • Experience managing projects from start to finish
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Strong commercial awareness and cost control
  • Health & Safety awareness (SMSTS or similar preferred)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Background in commissioning or technical engineering role
  • Experience with system diagnostics and performance optimisation
  • Knowledge of F‑Gas regulations and compliance
  • Experience using project or CRM systems (e.g. Clik)
