We are seeking an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Manager to join our Management Team and lead the continued development of a strong safety‑first culture across our business. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident H&S professional with manufacturing or industrial experience who is passionate about compliance, continuous improvement, and creating a safe working environment for all employees and visitors.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Health & Safety Manager will take full ownership of the company's H&S function, ensuring compliance with UK legislation while driving best practice across all areas of the business. You will play a key role in maintaining safe and compliant facilities, leading investigations, managing risk assessments, overseeing environmental initiatives, and supporting operational excellence through effective HSE systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and maintain the company's Health & Safety function to a high standard
  • Ensure compliance across all premises in line with UK legislation, customer requirements, and quality accreditations
  • Develop, improve, and maintain H&S procedures and reporting systems
  • Manage accident reporting and near‑miss investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Carry out and maintain risk assessments, COSHH assessments, and method statements
  • Deliver H&S inductions and coordinate employee safety training across the business
  • Produce regular HSE dashboards, KPI reports, and weekly Board reports
  • Support and maintain environmental impact reduction initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with transport legislation and operational H&S standards
  • Prepare and present documentation for internal and external audits
  • Monitor facilities and working practices to ensure ongoing compliance
  • Maintain accurate H&S records and compliance documentation across all systems
  • Ensure First Aid and PPE requirements are fully compliant and effectively managed

About You

We are looking for a hands‑on and engaging H&S professional who can influence at all levels of the organisation and drive continuous improvement.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or Diploma) in Occupational Health & Safety
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a similar H&S management role
  • Experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong knowledge of UK H&S legislation including RIDDOR, PUWER, and DSEAR
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, COSHH assessments, and accident investigations
  • Experience delivering H&S training and coaching across all levels
  • Strong reporting, analytical, and communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail with a proactive approach to risk management
  • Experience supporting internal and external H&S audits

Desirable

  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • Experience implementing or maintaining ISO 14001
  • Experience working with environmental agencies or regulators
