The Role
We are partnering with a leading manufacturing business in the Tamworth area who are looking to appoint an experienced Process Technician to join their technical team. This is a hands-on, shop-floor based role where you will play a key part in ensuring manufacturing processes run efficiently, safely and to the highest quality standards. You will also be instrumental in driving continuous improvement, supporting new tooling and equipment introductions, and developing robust process standards across the site. Working within a fast-paced production environment, this role offers the opportunity to get involved in both day-to-day operational support and longer-term technical projects.
What Will You Be Doing?
- Setting up, commissioning and installing new tools, moulds and equipment
- Supporting mould trials and acting as Trial Champion for new and existing products
- Optimising injection moulding processes to improve efficiency, reduce cycle times and increase OEE
- Setting and maintaining standard processing parameters across production
- Supporting changeovers including mould, material, colour, insert and product version changes
- Troubleshooting process issues and working with engineering, toolroom and quality teams to resolve faults
- Monitoring process performance using SPC and quality data, ensuring consistent output
- Driving continuous improvement activities using lean tools and structured problem solving
- Supporting the development and training of shift process staff and sharing best practice
- Producing and maintaining SOPs, process documentation and trial reports
- Ensuring safe working practices are always followed and supporting health & safety compliance
- Liaising with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth production flow and quick issue resolution
What Will You Bring to the Party?
- Ideally served a recognised Engineering or Processing apprenticeship.
- Injection moulding qualification equivalent to IMT 3 or above.
- Multi skilling qualification advantageous.
- Knowledge and experience of various plastics processes. Gas Assist & Overmoulding.
- Good knowledge of modern injection moulding machinery, robotics, tooling, finishing equipment, printing, assembling.
- Good knowledge of different plastic materials.
- Good knowledge of modern automation equipment.
