We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Ultrasound/Biometry Nurse to perform ocular or ENT diagnostic measurements, assist in preoperative assessments, and provide patient-centred care. The ideal candidate will operate specialized ultrasound and biometry equipment, ensure accurate data collection, and work closely with surgeons to optimize surgical outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Perform ocular or ENT ultrasound examinations, including A-scan, B-scan, pachymetry, and biometry measurements.
- Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures and explain the process to ensure comfort and cooperation.
- Operate and maintain ultrasound and biometry equipment, ensuring proper calibration and function.
- Collect, record, and interpret biometric data accurately for preoperative planning (e.g., cataract surgery).
- Assist ophthalmologists or ENT surgeons with preoperative assessments and planning.
- Maintain strict infection control and safety protocols during all procedures.
- Monitor patient condition during examinations and report any concerns promptly.
- Maintain accurate patient records, diagnostic reports, and audit logs.
- Provide education to patients about procedures, results, and follow-up care.
- Participate in continuing education and stay updated on advances in ophthalmic/ENT imaging techniques.
Qualifications And Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Nursing (Registered Nurse / RN).
- Valid nursing license to practice.
- 12 months previous experience in ophthalmology or ENT diagnostic imaging preferred in NHS (UK) hospitals.
- Knowledge and proficiency in ultrasound, biometry, and ocular/ENT diagnostic procedures.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy in data collection.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
