St John Ambulance works at the heart of communities, supporting and enabling them to access and receive physical and mental health first aid. Job Summary
Our Emergency Planning Manager, as a member of the Urgent & Emergency Care directorate, is accountable for ensuring that our EPRR policies, plans, people, and capabilities are in a constant state of readiness in line with the expectations placed upon us. They will lead the delivery of our Emergency Planning and Business Continuity strategy and policies across the organisation, ensuring all functions and teams are resilient in their operation. This role demands a great deal of flexibility, the ability to multi-task, and react quickly to offer pragmatic and logical solutions in the event of a crisis. This is a varied and challenging role which will help to establish a new and impactful approach to emergency planning and business continuity.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- CBCI Certificate Course or equivalent
- Demonstrable experience of successfully developing and implementing emergency planning and business continuity policies and programmes across multiple sites
- Experience of designing robust, cost-effective and practical EP and BC solutions
- Designing and delivering effective training programmes and exercises to test procedures and plans
- Able to demonstrate an up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance including the CCA and NHS EPRR framework and ISO 22301 and/or the BCI good practice guidelines
- Experience of leading cross-functional teams towards successfully achieving objectives within agreed timeframes
About the Role
- Develop and implement the St John Ambulance Emergency Planning (EP) and Business Continuity (BC) strategy and policies that will support the organisational overall strategy and direction
- Drive compliance towards relevant EPRR core standards that underpin organisational contracts
- Be aware of external landscape developments in the EP & BC arena that will change how we need to operate or respond and advise the Director of Urgent & Emergency Care accordingly
- Ensure a programme of CPD exists to ensure St John People have the necessary EP and/or BC awareness for their role
- Lead a high-performing team of volunteers and employees to focus on relevant aspects of EP & BC pertinent to organisational direction, strategy, and resource availability
