About the role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Civil Engineer to lead and support the delivery of infrastructure projects across a diverse range of sectors including roads, rail infrastructure, data centres, residential schemes, and mixed-use developments. You will be responsible for managing project teams, ensuring technical excellence, and delivering high-quality outputs from planning through to construction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce designs, drawings, and technical reports for planning and construction stages.
- Manage multiple infrastructure projects and client accounts across various sectors.
- Ensure client requirements are met and manage scope changes effectively.
- Attend client meetings and coordinate project delivery.
- Prepare fee proposals and manage project finances, contracts, and forecasting.
- Deliver projects on time, within budget, and to high quality standards.
- Conduct FRAs, drainage strategies, and hydraulic modelling using Civil 3D and MicroDrainage.
- Coordinate below-ground design and perform clash detection using Navisworks.
- Design roads and access routes to MfS and DMRB standards.
- Liaise with statutory authorities for technical approvals.
- Develop integrated design strategies for utilities, drainage, and public realm.
- Lead risk management, value engineering, and respond to technical queries.
- Mentor junior engineers and support their professional development.
- Ensure compliance with quality, health & safety, and CDM regulations.
- Support business development through client engagement and marketing initiatives.
About You:
- Degree in Civil Engineering; Chartered or near Chartered status preferred.
- Significant post-graduate experience in civil engineering consultancy.
- Proven experience in highway and drainage design for development infrastructure projects.
- Proficient in Civil 3D, PDS, and InfoDrainage.
- Familiarity with Highways England/DMRB, Local Authority design guidance, and UK Sewerage Sector Guidance.
- Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
- Ability to produce masterplans, site appraisals, technical reports, and construction drawings.
- Experience managing project teams and mentoring junior staff.
- Commercial awareness and ability to manage project finances.
- Proactive, solution-focused, and committed to continuous improvement.
