The Role
Responsible for assisting in the development of strategic policies in line with key corporate objectives for all matters relating to Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality assurance within the organization.
Principal Responsibilities
- Assist in the maintenance of the company’s HSEQ management systems.
- Assist in the development of HSEQ policies, processes, and guidelines.
- Act as the HSEQ first point of contact for specified departments.
- Develop communications to support HSEQ initiatives.
- Provide advice to the business on HSEQ matters such as fire safety, hazardous substances, waste management, work equipment, occupational health, and reportable incidents.
- Conduct investigations into incidents to establish causation and corrective measures.
- Assist in the development and testing of emergency arrangements.
- Maintain current knowledge of legislation and regulatory requirements related to HSEQ matters and assist in the maintenance of the company’s legal registers.
- Conduct internal HSEQ audits and facilitate third-party audits of the company’s HSEQ management systems.
- Conduct inductions and supervise permits to work.
- Provide advice to the business on the management of non-conformance.
- Monitor HSEQ KPIs and manage incident reporting.
- Conduct HSEQ audits and inspections.
- Liaise with other business departments on matters relating to HSEQ.
- Conduct incident investigations.
- Maintain legal registers.
- Develop policies and procedures.
- Prepare and update emergency response procedures and accident reports.
- Undertake surveys using equipment to assess risks to health (e.g., noise surveys).
Qualifications
- NEBOSH General Certificate, NVQ Level 3 in OHS, or equivalent.
- Internal Auditor qualification.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001.
- Membership of IOSH.
