Overview
INA Site Inspector (Sizewell C) – Civil Engineering. Location: Sizewell C, Leiston, Suffolk (On-site with occasional remote working, and potential discussion of more flexible or part-time arrangements where possible). Contract: Permanent, full-time. Salary: Circa £65,000 and higher depending on experience and qualifications (Grade C to D) – plus benefits.

What is INA?
INA is the internal regulator for the Sizewell C project, providing an independent oversight capability to support, regulate, inspect, and provide assurance of activities, arrangements, decision making and behaviours within the project. The INA mission is to provide efficient, effective and trusted independent regulation to support the SZC Project, upholding standards and enabling continual improvement.
Your Role: INA Site Inspector – Civil Engineering
As a Site Inspector within INA’s Independent Site Inspection Team you will contribute by performing independent oversight of civil engineering activities. You will provide assurance that construction works are planned and executed in line with the design, to appropriate standards, with safety as the overriding priority. You will engage with client teams, contractors, designers, external regulators and other stakeholders, and participate in activities such as site walk downs, independent assessments (technical and non-technical) and observation of key meetings. There is an opportunity to broaden your skills by overseeing other INA remit topics such as Environment, Emergency Preparedness and Security.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
Technical
We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer who has worked on major, multi-disciplinary construction projects as well as in the design environment. The following knowledge and experience are sought:
- Degree qualification in Civil Engineering (or closely related discipline).
- Progressing towards or holding Chartered status with the ICE or IStructE.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering design and construction processes and standards, with the ability to identify risks and propose alternative solutions.
- Ability to interpret construction information (drawings, models, bar bending schedules, specifications) and undertake site inspections to assess conformance with the above.
- Ability to review construction RAMS and undertake site inspections to assess conformance with these.
- Ability to review design output and confirm alignment with construction information.
- Experience in construction management is desirable but not essential.
Non-Technical
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with others within the INA team and across Sizewell C.
- An ability and desire to challenge unsafe behaviours or practices in an appropriate manner.
- Able to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
- Commitment to the highest standards of safety and quality.
