The Opportunity:
Are you looking for a career which is rewarding, at the cutting edge of project development and where you can really make a difference? Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy.
Following on from the success of the new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C (HPC), the Sizewell C Project (SZC) in Suffolk is the UK’s next nuclear power new build project. The project has obtained planning approval and has started construction works. It has recently achieved Financial Investment Decision (FID) meaning that all the funding for the full lifespan of the project is now secured and in place guaranteeing the full delivery of this new nuclear power station. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.
Role:
You will lead the Diesels Multi‑Disciplinary Team consisting of building architects, engineers, schedulers, cost/quality managers, civil construction, MEH (Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC) fitout, partnering with Tier 1 supply chain contractors. You will regularly collaborate with supply chain managers, diesel contract project managers, commissioning, site operations, and regulatory stakeholders. Your role will involve developing an integrated and constructable schedule to mitigate risks to on‑site construction and installation activities. You will anticipate, manage, and resolve area‑specific issues, identify risks, and elevate critical matters to the Senior Project Manager as needed. You will develop effective delivery strategies to mitigate cost and schedule challenges that are harmonious with Sizewell C’s ‘best for Project’ mindset. Focusing on medium‑term planning, you will ensure construction and installation activities progress without delays. This includes leading discussions on sequencing, managing contractor interfaces, and collaborating across project areas to ensure alignment. Additionally, you will drive continuous improvement by embedding lessons learned and knowledge into daily operations from our sister project Hinkley Point C.
What You’ll Bring:
Future leaders are those who thrive on challenge and are passionate, ambitious, and ready to lead. If you have a background in building design integration, construction design management (CDM), civil construction/engineering, or mechanical, electrical, systems engineering for large industrial projects, coupled with a talent for managing complex multidisciplinary projects, this is your chance to make a real impact. A career with us means embracing challenges head‑on and driving forward the future of sustainable energy. If you bring experience in the nuclear industry, have a Chartered Engineer qualification, or hold formal project management certification, you’re already one step ahead. But more importantly, if you are positive, passionate, ambitious, and ready to lead, we want to hear from you.
Essential Skills And Experience:
- Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary design and procurement teams, ensuring delivery milestones are met.
- Background in mechanical, electrical, process, systems, or civil engineering—preferably within large industrial plant environments.
- Construction Design Management (CDM) experience.
- Strong understanding of major project complexities, including cross‑functional interface management.
- Significant experience leading pre‑tender and tender activities for the design, manufacturing, and/or installation of industrial equipment.
- Excellent communication skills, able to engage effectively with both clients and contractors.
Desirable:
- Experience in the nuclear sector or in procuring equipment/installation contracts for nuclear power stations is desirable.
Additional Information:
Join the team at Sizewell C. Our vision is to Lead The Way On Nuclear. The Sizewell C team is one of the most exciting and largest new megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy. We have begun constructing a 3.2‑gigawatt nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast in the East of England replicating, wherever possible, the design used for Hinkley Point C, another nuclear power station being built in Somerset. When built, Sizewell C will be one of the largest power stations to operate in the UK. The power station will generate low carbon electricity for at least 60 years, supplying over 6 million homes and supporting around 7% of the UK’s current electricity needs.
Our vision is to Lead The Way On Nuclear. We want Sizewell C to define what good leadership for the nuclear industry and British infrastructure looks like and deliver on it. We understand the feats of organisation, logistics, collaboration and imagination that building nuclear requires. We are building for the next generation for their home‑grown energy, energy price stability and ultra‑low carbon power in abundance. We also want to set the benchmark for maximising long‑lasting social value as we build and demonstrate how smart collaboration can work for the benefit of communities – locally, regionally and nationally.
We are the first nuclear power station in the UK to be funded under the Regulated Asset Base funding model (RAB). Our largest shareholder is the UK Government, alongside equity partners La Caisse, Centrica, EDF and Amber Infrastructure. Sizewell C operates within a complex and fast‑moving stakeholder environment, engaging with a wide range of partners including government bodies, regulators, local communities, supply chain partners, and international collaborators. This makes Sizewell C a uniquely stimulating place to work – where navigating evolving priorities, balancing interests, and building trusted relationships is just as critical as technical excellence. For those who thrive in dynamic, multi‑dimensional settings, it offers unmatched professional challenge and growth.
When joining Sizewell C, you may wonder why you are contacted by colleagues with an EDF email or see the EDF logo on portals that you access and/or documentation you receive; this is because we have partnered with EDF for the provision of a number of support services whilst we complete a successful transition out of the EDF group. At Sizewell C we encourage and embrace diversity and how it can improve our experience and performance at work. It is a requirement that those who join us have the right to work in the UK. Whilst sponsorship may be a possibility that we can explore, we are fully committed to local recruitment where possible, and those already holding the right to work in the UK.
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.
By submitting an application to this role, you acknowledge that you have read and understood Sizewell C’s employee privacy policy and EDF’s employee privacy policy. Just to let you know, EDF will be processing and sharing information about your application on behalf of Sizewell C.
