Role overview
We are seeking a Physical Security Assurance to drive Level 2 physical security assurance activities across the Sizewell C programme.
Reporting to the Deputy Head of Security, Resilience and Assurance you will provide expert oversight of physical security arrangements across project, corporate and supplier environments, ensuring controls remain effective, proportionate to risk and aligned with regulatory requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects, working closely with senior leaders, regulators, security specialists and delivery partners to shape and continuously improve physical security assurance arrangements throughout construction and beyond.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead the Level 2 Physical Security Assurance Programme across Sizewell C.
- Deliver risk-based audits, inspections and assurance reviews across project, corporate and supplier environments.
- Identify security risks, recommend improvements and oversee corrective actions.
- Provide expert advice on physical security controls, standards and regulatory requirements.
- Manage corporate physical security arrangements, including access control, regulated areas and protection of sensitive information.
- Lead security investigations and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage the relationship with Nuclear Security Services (NSS), defining the annual task order, including monitoring delivery against agreed objectives.
- Engage with regulators, suppliers and senior stakeholders to support effective security outcomes.
- Support governance forums and provide assurance reporting to senior leadership.
About you
- Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of physical and technical security principles, controls and assurance requirements within Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) environments.
- Strong understanding of three lines of defence, risk management and integrated assurance models.
- Ability to develop and deliver risk-based security assurance programmes, including audits, reviews, reporting and action tracking.
- Ability to translate risk, regulatory expectations and assurance findings into practical security improvements.
- Ability to provide clear and proportionate advice on physical security risks and controls to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders, regulators, suppliers and delivery partners.
- Ability to manage supplier performance and support compliant delivery.
- Experience drafting and maintaining security policies, standards, processes and procedures.
- Excellent written, verbal and governance communication skills, including leading assurance forums and meetings.
- CITB certification.
- Knowledge of governance and assurance requirements within nuclear, CNI, regulated or major project environments.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience within a highly regulated and/or high-security environment, ideally nuclear or Critical National Infrastructure.
- Experience assessing security threats and risks and implementing proportionate mitigations.
- Experience delivering security audits, reviews, assessments or assurance activities relating to physical security controls.
- Experience implementing and managing physical security controls in line with regulatory requirements and guidance, including ONR and NPSA expectations.
- Experience implementing security frameworks, standards and management arrangements.
- Experience managing corporate physical security arrangements, including access control, regulated areas and protection of sensitive information.
- Experience managing security providers and monitoring performance against agreed KPIs or service standards.
- Experience supporting budgets, forecasts, business cases and performance reporting.
- Experience supporting regulatory inspections, audits, reviews and assurance forums, including evidence preparation, reporting and action tracking.
- Formal physical security qualifications or accreditations (e. g. SIA, NPSA).
- Project or programme management qualifications and/or experience within major infrastructure projects.
- Experience enhancing security culture through communications, engagement or behavioural change initiatives.
- Experience delivering operational security within construction, infrastructure or major project environments.
