Sizewell C is entering an exciting phase of growth as we mature into an independent organisation and continue building one of the UK’s largest and most important energy projects. We are now recruiting for the following position:

Location: London or Bristol, with hybrid working. Occasional travel to other offices and site locations will be required.

Contract: Permanent, full-time

Benefits include:

  • Annual Leave: 28 days per annum, increasing to 30 days after 5 years of service, plus bank holidays

About the Role: Sizewell C is seeking an experienced Civil Transverse Programme Engineering Manager (PEM) to provide technical leadership, engineering governance and programme-wide oversight across the Main Civil Works Programme. Working within the Technical Directorate, you will lead the Transverse Engineering function, ensuring consistent engineering standards, design integration, assurance, replication and technical controls across a programme delivering approximately 50 major civil structures. Leading a client-side team whilst influencing a large external supply chain, this role is focused on technical leadership, governance and engineering assurance rather than detailed design delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Line management responsibility for up to five engineers, while providing technical leadership and coordination across a large external engineering supply chain.
  • Lead the Transverse Engineering function across the Main Civil Works Programme.
  • Provide technical leadership, governance and oversight across engineering activities.
  • Own engineering processes, standards, specifications and programme documentation.
  • Manage design replication and configuration management strategies, incorporating lessons learned from Hinkley Point C.
  • Oversee construction specifications, material qualification and technical requirements.
  • Provide technical oversight of contractor procurement, manufacturing and engineering documentation.
  • Act as the focal point for complex technical issues, risks and opportunities.
  • Coordinate technical interfaces across programmes, disciplines and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure buildability and construction requirements are effectively incorporated into design solutions.
  • Support design assurance, technical acceptance and engineering handovers.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong technical leadership and people management skills.
  • Experience operating within highly regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of engineering governance, assurance and design management processes.
  • Ability to manage complex technical interfaces across multidisciplinary teams and suppliers.
  • Experience leading the resolution of complex engineering and technical challenges.
  • Understanding of engineering documentation, review and approval processes.
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.
  • Working knowledge of engineering management systems and associated tools.
  • Civil or structural engineering expertise.
  • Knowledge of EPR nuclear power plant design principles.
  • Understanding of nuclear engineering specifications and standards.
  • Experience managing engineering contracts and supply chain partners.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree qualified in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience within the nuclear industry or another highly regulated sector.
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams, technical functions or complex engineering programmes.
  • Experience managing engineering risk, technical governance and assurance activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across multiple stakeholders in a complex project environment.
  • Experience delivering major nuclear, energy or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience on EPR projects such as Hinkley Point C, Flamanville 3, Olkiluoto 3 or Taishan.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong track record of delivering successful project outcomes within complex programmes.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical investigations, analysis and issue resolution.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional registration.
