Sizewell C’s business is to design, finance, construct, commission, operate, maintain, and eventually decommission the nuclear power plant and related infrastructure at Sizewell C in Suffolk.

Overall, whilst the Company is in the construction phase, the Boards’ principal focus is on the development and construction of Sizewell C on time, on budget and to the highest quality and safety standards.

The Company is maturing to meet all these requirements.

Sizewell C is economically regulated by OFGEM under the Regulated Asset Base (RAB) model similar to other UK electricity distribution networks and Thames Tideway.

Sizewell C construction strategy is to replicate the design of Hinkley Point C, using the majority of the same supply chain, but innovating in the way it is delivered to achieve savings in time and cost of around 20%.

The CCO will need to be guided by and incorporate lessons learned from the Hinkley Point C commercial delivery to achieve Sizewell C’s ambition.

Following Financial Completion and Revenue Commencement, Sizewell C is fully funded and is owned by; The Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero representing HM Government, La Caisse, Centrica, EDF and Amber Infrastructure.

Sizewell C is entering an exciting phase of growth as we mature into an independent organisation and continue building one of the UK’s largest and most important energy projects.

We’re looking for the following motivated person to join the team

Location: Suffolk, London – hybrid, full time, minimum 3 days per week in the office Salary: Circa £56,506 depending on experience

Impact

As an Assistant Project Manager (APM), you will support the Project Manager and Senior Project Manager in delivering key aspects of the Nuclear Island Civil Works scope at Sizewell C, while also taking responsibility for managing smaller work packages under their guidance.

The role involves coordinating project activities, monitoring progress, supporting risk and issue management, and contributing to successful delivery against programme, quality, and safety objectives.

You will also lead or support cross‑functional initiatives that improve project processes and ways of working across the team.

Working closely with the SZC Supply Chain team, Responsible Designer (RD), Quality team, Site Delivery Team, and Civil Works Programme, you will help ensure effective collaboration and the successful execution of project objectives.

• Principal Accountabilities
• Support a programme of work aligned with the 60 / 78 months SZC programme and develop opportunities accordingly.
• Manage the multidisciplinary teams supporting the project for the engineering activities, procurement and manufacturing of key contracts.
• Manage internal interfaces (between contracts and systems) and external interfaces (between programme scopes) to ensure a coordinated approach to design and delivery.
• Maintain strong links with the project managers and engineers responsible for delivering equivalent scope at Hinkley Point C and implement all lessons learned.
• Take a global overview of the nuclear power plant Systems, Structures and Components (SSCs) within their programme, with a view to maximise replication from HPC and prepare for key contracts to be awarded.
• Manage engineering interfaces with all SZC stakeholders on its area, scope gaps, etc.
• Manage the HPC to SZC replication of its scope.
• Procurement
• Manage early engagement with stakeholders (including equipment suppliers) to identify obsolescence issues and other risks to replication.
• Manage the technical elements of the procurement process for specific contracts.
• Construction
• Deliver the buildings and support the construction with adequate follow‑up and close monitoring
• Develop a construction programme
• Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
• Appetence for coordinating multi‑disciplinary design/procurement work and driving design/procurement teams to deliver on time.
• Ideally Project management or project engineering experience or related university degree.
• Background in civil engineering for large industrial plants.
• Good understanding or high interest in understanding the complexity of major projects, including interface management between scope areas.
• Excellent communication skills in client‑facing and contractor‑facing situations.
• Previous engineering or project management experience in the nuclear industry or in any industry.
