Project Manager Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C
As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years.This role will be within theMain Civil Works Section.
What will you do?
The CWA is recruiting directly for an experienced Project Manager, Main Civils (Metal) to support the delivery of the Pools, Tanks and Liners scope for Sizewell C.
Based across Avonmouth and Suffolk, the successful candidate will oversee multidisciplinary contractors and coordinate the safe, timely and cost-effective delivery of complex mechanical and manufacturing work packages.
The Project Manager will provide leadership across the HR and HK Pools, ASG, Tanks and Sumps scope, working closely with client representatives, CWA teams and Tier 2 supply-chain partners.
- Leading weekly meetings with suppliers and subcontractors, coordinating forthcoming activities and resolving delivery issues.
- Preparing the technical documentation required to support project delivery.
- Coordinating the procurement of plant, equipment and materials.
- Supporting manufacturing activities through production meetings, pre-production reviews, risk reviews and major project events.
- Managing project costs, variations, cash-flow forecasts, schedules and risk registers.
- Understanding contractual obligations and working with the client to clarify scope or resolve ambiguity.
- Working with engineering colleagues to support informed decisions on design changes and improvements.
- Maintaining a strong nuclear safety culture and ensuring contractor compliance.
- Monitoring quality requirements, including approved Inspection and Test Plans and relevant intervention points.
- Ensuring work is completed safely under approved RAMS, lifting plans and control-of-work arrangements.
- Reviewing contractor construction plans and participating in daily and weekly planning meetings.
- Auditing safety, health and environment, quality, cost and delivery performance.
- Ensuring assigned work packages are completed safely, on schedule, to specification and within budget.
What are we looking for?
The CWA is looking for a capable and organised project professional with experience of delivering technically complex work in a dynamic, highly regulated environment.
The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate:
- Previous project management experience within a manufacturing or mechanical environment.
- A strong fabrication and welding background, ideally gained within a workshop environment.
- Experience managing third-party, multidisciplinary teams on behalf of a client.
- The ability to interpret detailed engineering drawings, RAMS and Inspection and Test Plans.
- Knowledge of industry control-of-work processes and tools.
- An understanding of relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with management-of-change processes.
- Strong communication, coordination and contractor-management skills.
- The ability to coach and organise suppliers and contractors to achieve safe, high-quality and timely delivery.
- Competence using Microsoft Word and Excel, with familiarity with AutoCAD.
- Experience within nuclear energy or another highly regulated sector, although relevant transferable experience will also be valued.
- A project management qualification such as APM, which is preferred.
