Engineering Competencies and Appointments Coordinator Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C
As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low‑carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years.This role will be within theCWA Wide Section.
What will you do?
The Sizewell C (SZC) project requires an Engineering Competencies and Appointments Coordinator to support the coordination, administration and maintenance of the Engineering and Assurance function’s competency, appointment and people development arrangements.
The success of the Civil Works Alliance’s (CWA) engineering delivery relies on maintaining clear, accurate and accessible information on the skills, knowledge and appointments required to deliver the works. The Coordinator will support the Engineering Development Manager by maintaining competency and appointment management processes so that suitably qualified and experienced personnel (SQEP) requirements are visible, understood and consistently administered across the function.
The Coordinator will provide administrative and coordination support to those involved in early careers and industry professional development, helping to maintain accurate information, coordinate communications and support the delivery of agreed development activities.
The Civil Works Alliance supports continued professional development by applying the 70/20/10 development principles and providing opportunities for development within the organisation. The Coordinator will support the administration of professional development arrangements, including maintaining records, coordinating information for those progressing towards professional membership with institutions such as the ICE and RICS, and assisting with mentorship and development opportunity tracking.
The Engineering Competencies and Appointments Coordinator will demonstrate strong organisation, attention to detail and communication skills, with experience of coordinating learning, competency or development information in a complex project environment. They will work closely with the Engineering Development Manager and wider Engineering and Assurance function to support consistent implementation of competency, appointment and development processes.
The responsibilities of the role are summarised below:
- Support SQEP and competency management processes.
- Coordinate communications with the early careers community group.
- Support stakeholder engagement and the effective communication of competence procedures
- Provide coordination support for early careers programmes, including graduates and apprenticeships.
- Support apprenticeship arrangements, including Civil Engineering, Digital Engineering and Surveying pathways, and assist with the coordination of apprenticeship development ‘wrap around’ programmes.
- Support professional development administration and tracking.
- Coordinate knowledge management activities and maintain relevant information resources.
- Coordinate training and development records, activities and reporting inputs.
- Support the facilitation and administration of Engineering Onboarding sessions
- Support with competence and capability records assurance checks and facilitate escalation of identified gaps.
- Maintain learning materials and associated records within a Learning Management System.
- Manage records and reporting on the status of engineering development and competency-related KPIs.
What are we looking for?
Essential Qualifications
- A-Level, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent qualification in Learning and Development, Human Resources, Business Administration, project support, Engineering Administration, or a related discipline.
- Strong IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft office applications, particularly Excel, SharePoint and reporting tools such as Power Bi.
Desirable Qualifications
- CIPD Level 3/5 qualification (or working towards).
- Qualification in Business Administration, Project Management or learning and Development.
- Membership of a relevant professional body.
- Understanding of apprenticeship standards, professional registration pathways and competency management frameworks.
- Coordinating programmes, projects or business activities involving multiple stakeholders.
- Maintaining accurate records, databases, and management information.
- Producing reports and analysing data to support decision making.
- Strong administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience working with engineering, construction, infrastructure, energy or other regulated industries.
- Experience supporting learning and development activities, training, workshops, workforce planning, or people development activities.
- Experience with SharePoint, Power Bi, or similar rreporting and information management tools.
